Maine adds $25 per dependant, but the cap is written as a percentage rather than a headcount: the allowance can reach 75% of the weekly benefit amount. That is why the federal table publishes a maximum of $623 without dependants and $1,090 with them.
- A percentage cap, not a fixed number of dependants. Most dependants' states cap at four or five children; Maine caps at three quarters of the benefit, so the allowance scales with the claim rather than flattening out.
- The minimum moves too: $108 without dependants, $189 with the maximum allowance.
- 1/22 of the average wages paid in your two highest quarters. A more generous divisor than the common 1/25 or 1/26, applied to a two-quarter average.
- Qualifying is expressed in average weekly wages: twice your average weekly wage in each of two different base-period quarters, and total base-period wages equal to six times the average weekly wage.
