Idaho decides your number of weeks by comparing your year to your best quarter
Idaho does not set duration as a flat multiple. It uses a weighted schedule built on the ratio of base-period wages to high-quarter wages — effectively a measure of how evenly you worked — and reads the number of payable weeks off that.
- Spread beats concentration. Two claimants with identical total earnings get different durations if one earned it across four quarters and the other in one. The schedule rewards the steadier record, producing a range of 10 to 26 weeks.
- The weekly amount itself is 1/26 of high-quarter wages, giving a range of $72 to $624 — so the high quarter drives the size of the cheque while the ratio drives its length.
- Qualifying takes 1.25 times high-quarter wages and a minimum of $1,872 in one quarter.
- Part-time work: half the weekly amount is ignored, one of the more generous percentage disregards in the country.
- Idaho taxes employers on $58,300 of each worker's wages, among the highest taxable wage bases anywhere — a sign of how the state funds the comparatively high ceiling above.
